1. Iron Fish

Iron Fish was founded in 2016 and is located in Northern Michigan. This relatively new distillery has developed a huge following of loyal whiskey-loving fans. Over 100,000 guests visit this unique distillery each year to taste a wide range of whiskeys, gins, rums, and vodkas. One of the reasons people are drawn to Iron Fish is that all of the grains they use are either grown on-site or purchased from other Michigan family farms.

I love tastings and I am sure you do to, at Iron Fish they are offered daily along with a signature line of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. Food is served on-site as well. You have to try the pizza! Kids are sure to have a great time with all the lawn/yard games provided as well.

2. Journeyman

One of the coolest distilleries in Michigan and number 2 on our list is located in Three Oaks, MI. Many of us have been inspired after a great vacation but few of us put that inspiration to work. The founders of Journeyman did just that after a trip to Scotland helped them develop a passion for whiskey.

A love of golf (Bill, one of the founders is a former D1 golfer) and whiskey combine on the beautiful grounds of this distillery. Visitors can sip on their favorite whiskey while brushing up on their putting abilities via the 18-hole, 30,000-square-foot putting green. Named the “Welter Folly Putting Green” it is believed to be the world’s largest putting green not associated with a golf course.

Located in beautiful Traverse City, this distillery is a must-visit for any Michigan whiskey lover. Founded by three friends (Chris, Jared and Moti) after Chris discovered his grandfathers old patents for distilling whiskey on their family farm. The three of them have certainly succeed in creating a high quality, small batch whiskey company that embodies the spirit of northern Michigan. With their diverse lineup of whiskeys to choose from I am confident you will find something your pallet will enjoy.

I love what these guys stand for, Long Road Distillers was founded on the motto of “Taking the long road means taking no shortcuts, which means partnering with others who do the same.” The owners live this motto by using high-quality ingredients grown across West Michigan. It’s easy to see this show up in the quality of their product, just look at this list of award winning spirits
